Peter Hedberg

A recent addition to the roster of Peak Asset Management wealth advisors, I joined the firm after a 35-year career with New West Investment Management, Inc., which I founded in 1990. Prior to that, I worked as an account executive in the investment brokerage industry for six years. The move from the sales-focused brokerage industry to the results-oriented investment management business has allowed me to provide personal service and solid investment results to clients.

My move to Peak Asset was in the service of clients as it created a more sustainable, robust and secure wealth management platform for all. I am excited for this next career chapter, working with professionals, some of whom I’ve known for decades. It is great to be part of such an outstanding group of people.

I graduated from the University of Colorado business school with a degree in finance. Fun fact, my grandfather owned a seat, and was a specialist, on the New York Stock Exchange. He started as a runner on the Curb Exchange, renamed the American Stock Exchange, before moving to the NYSE in 1927. Interest in the stock market runs in my veins.

I have volunteered with a predecessor to Colorado Open Lands, a Colorado Land Trust, working to preserve land, water and natural resources in the state. I am currently fundraising for Children’s Hospital Colorado by way of sponsoring a bicycle team for the Courage Classic bicycle tour. I am a member of the CFA Institute and the Colorado chapter.

Married and a father of four, I have a long-standing interest in sustainable, natural agriculture and food production, which now means backyard gardening and once meant running a small cattle herd to fulfill my cowboy dreams. I also do all the Colorado sports such as bike riding, running, skiing, hiking, camping, and fly fishing. I even ran a couple of Pack Burro races, Colorado’s only original sport.
